Introducing Dimensions Algonquin Highlands.

A breathtaking natural environment for resetting the central nervous system. This is a place where somatic psychotherapy is supported. Ceremonies are led by Plant Elders and guided by expert somatic therapists.

ASCEND to yourself by embarking on your somatic-psychotherapy journey for self-betterment at Dimensions Algonquin Highlands.  Each ASCEND Retreat will offer you the opportunity to be surrounded by others who are equally dedicated to becoming the best version of themselves.

Join Dimensions Algonquin Highlands’ Clinical Director Donald Currie, RP and his team of leading clinicians, therapists, and hospitality experts providing a new paradigm for well-being and mental health.

ASCEND all-inclusive journeys at Dimensions Algonquin Highlands run Wednesday through Sunday, with a series of one week virtually guided preparations and an introductory four-night Retreat stay at Dimensions Retreats’ Canadian lakeside destination. The Retreat will be followed by two weeks of virtually guided integrations.

This Retreat series offers you the opportunity to continue your transformational journey while surrounded by others who are equally dedicated to becoming their better selves*.

The ASCEND Retreat is held in a uniquely western container: it is informed by neuroscience, supported by rigorous health and safety protocols, and is one of five foundational well-being programs developed by Dimensions’ team of clinical experts. The Retreat’s five-star environment and psychotherapeutic context is a ground breaking opportunity to leave the everyday behind and begin your journey to self-betterment. Pause, reflect, and connect to an enhanced sense of purpose.

* Retreat participation is based on assessment and limited to persons 25 years and older.

* There is no alcohol permitted on the premises during an ASCEND Retreat.

Cannabis-Optional, Client-Led Experience:

At Dimensions, we recognize that some clients may choose to incorporate cannabis into their personal experience during the retreat.
Cannabis use within the program is entirely optional and self-directed. It is not required for participation, and clients can fully engage in all aspects of the program without it.
Our clinical model remains grounded in evidence-informed psychotherapy, somatic practices, and integrative wellness approaches that support regulation, insight, and meaningful change.

A Supported Environment:

For clients who choose to use cannabis, our role is to provide a safe, supportive environment where they can remain aware of their internal experience and stay connected to their sense of choice.
Clinicians do not provide, prescribe, or direct cannabis use. Instead, they support clients in:

  • staying grounded and oriented
  • noticing shifts in thoughts, emotions, and body sensations
  • maintaining awareness of personal limits and boundaries

If cannabis is part of a client’s experience, it is approached with attention to safety, pacing, and individual readiness.
Some clients may notice shifts in perception, emotional access, or internal awareness. When this occurs, our clinical team supports integration through psychotherapy, helping clients make sense of their experience in a way that is meaningful and sustainable.
All therapeutic work remains grounded in client consent, capacity, and clinical judgment. Cannabis use is not a therapeutic intervention provided by the clinical team and is not required for participation.

Participation Without Cannabis

Clients may choose not to use cannabis and can still fully engage in all aspects of the program.
Each person’s experience is shaped by their goals, readiness, and choices, with or without cannabis.

Q + A

Published trials and recent research show that psychedelics are useful in treating depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, addictions, migraines, post-traumatic stress, obsessive–compulsive disorder, eating disorders and end-of-life distress, as well as in improving general well-being. Importantly, psychedelics also show promise in safely and efficiently treating many of these conditions where other approaches have failed.

In conjunction with Queen’s University and Health Canada, Dimensions is developing a robust research agenda to continue exploring the benefits and limits of psychedelics. Read our blog for more information about current research trials and findings.

Participation in our programs is not dependent on a physician’s referral, but all guests must participate in our intake and assessment process prior to Retreat, including a medical and psychological assessment to determine your physical and mental readiness for our programs.

Yes, we do have two-night retreat options at our Dimensions Algonquin Highlands property and upon request we do conduct ceremonies with guests who wish to abstain from plant medicines.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy combines psychedelic experiences with complementary therapeutic processes to help you reflect, reset and reconnect.

The therapeutic effects of psychedelics are not due simply to their physiological effects. Rather, they are the result of interactions between these physiological effects, the therapeutic setting and your mindset. Dimensions wellness programs offer a diverse array of therapeutic somatic modalities such as massage, float tanks and acupuncture to help you reconnect to your body. Instruction in breathing, meditation, mindfulness and similar practices deepens your experience. Activities in nature, exceptional culinary selections and the serene design at our luxurious Retreats are essential supports on your journey to well-being. Through all of these elements, our expert team pays careful attention to your emotional, physical, mental and spiritual development.

When specific strains of cannabis sativa are blended together in a particular way, their psychoactive components – notably, THC, CBD, CBN, CBG and CBC, as well as the terpene profile – can elicit deep psychedelic states similar to other classic psychedelics such as ayahuasca and psilocybin. When used in a therapeutic or ceremonial setting, cannabis addresses physical traumas in the fascia, tendons, muscles and bones – not just the trauma held in nervous system memories, emotions and personality structures.

However, cannabis differs from other psychedelics because you can retain your agency or sense of control. This often means you can navigate the experience more skilfully and with greater ease, and you can pause the experience.

Our guests’ privacy is paramount. Any information shared during the Retreat is confidential. Dimensions’ therapeutic staff comprises professionals who hold designations from recognized licensing bodies, and the entire staff have received extensive training on privacy protocols. Our digital platforms and guest services systems comply fully with HIPAA and PHIPA privacy regulations. Your fellow guests must also agree to maintain the confidentiality of other participants’ experiences and identities.
